For learners

From zero to controls work, by doing the work.

One path from Ohm's law and a multimeter to programming and commissioning machines, built around what controls employers check for. At your own pace, in your browser.

$59 a month or $399 a year. Nothing to install.

Practice: Conveyor 5 in the 2D view, with a work order, the panel door controls and the multimeter

Six milestones to your first controls job

Each milestone is named for something you can do once you pass it, and each one is something an employer can check.

  1. 1

    Meter and electrical safety

Measure volts, amps and ohms on the right setting, and prove a circuit dead before you touch it.

  2. 2

    Prints and signals

Trace any signal from a field device to the PLC on the print, and name every part on the way.

  3. 3

    Troubleshooting

Find and fix an unseen electrical fault on a real machine, safely, without being told where to look.

  4. 4

    PLC programming

Write, test and document a machine program to a spec, then commission it.

  5. 5

    Drives, process, networks and HMI

Set up and troubleshoot the drive, the loop, the network and the screen around a program.

  6. 6

    Commissioning

Commission a machine end to end from a spec, documented, and show it to an employer.

Questions

Do I need any experience?

No. The path starts with Ohm's law and how to use a multimeter safely, then builds one idea at a time: control components, motor circuits, reading prints, finding faults, then PLC programming.

Can I try it first?

Yes. Sign up free with just your email: you get the meter bench and Conveyor 5 with all their faults and commissioning, the Electricity and meter track, two lockout lessons, the placement checks and the Electricity checkpoint. No card, and your progress carries over if you join.

Monthly or yearly?

Both get you everything. Yearly costs $309 less over a year, and most people need several months to work through the path. Monthly suits you if you'd rather start small.

Will this get me a job?

No course can promise that, and we won't. The path is built around what controls employers check for: working safely, reading prints, finding faults and writing and commissioning programs. Every checkpoint you pass goes on a portfolio you can show.

Do I need a PLC, a trainer or any software?

No. CodePLC Labs runs in your browser and has a built-in PLC (IEC 61131-3, in Structured Text or Ladder Diagram), so you can program every machine without buying anything. If you have a PLC or PLC software that can be a Modbus TCP client, CodePLC Connector (a small Windows app) links it to the Labs machines.

Can I cancel?

Yes, any time, from your account. You keep access to the end of the period you've paid for, and nothing renews after that.

Will my price go up?

Not while you stay subscribed. The price you join at is the price you keep, even if it goes up for new members. If you cancel and come back later, you'd join at the price then.

Can my employer pay for my plan?

Yes. Buy with your work email and send them the receipt, or contact us for an invoice. If they're training several people, see CodePLC for employers.
